Eighty kilometres before lunch

The plan was simple: leave before the heat, ride the coast road, be home before noon. The plan mostly survived.

Packed

• Two bottles and a small bag of salted nuts
• A spare tube, levers and a mini pump
• A paper map, because the phone always dies first

Should have packed

Sunscreen for the back of the neck, and a second spare tube. The first puncture came at kilometre fifty, the second at sixty-two.

Still the best morning of the summer.
